The Report "Assessment of Research Capacities in Social Sciences in Albania" provides a
review and a critical analysis of existing policies and decision making
processes related to research in social sciences in Albania. Furthermore, it informs about the most significant existing research capacities and the status of the research at the national
level.
On the basis of the results of the Assessment,
recommendations are provided for each of the research actors aiming to improve
the status and quality of the research in social sciences in Albania.
Recommendations that are provided
focus on:
the
need for establishing quality and quantity standards and
scientific criteria for social research in the country conducted by
national institutions;
increased
funding for research projects and capacity building of young researchers;
establishing
mechanisms for incorporating social sciences in society and policy making
in the country and
enhancing
the regional and international networks in sharing experiences through
joint programmes and/or initiatives.
The Gender
Alliance for Development Centre in Tirana compiled this Assessment in the
framework of the Regional Research Promotion Programme in the Western Balkans
(RRPP), supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
